I have tried to blog in the past, but my life has been too mundane to bother, that is until now.
My amazing wife, Joss, has brought me to South Africa while she is doing her PhD research, and I have gladly joined her. Having never been away from the UK for more than three weeks before this is my gap year, my career break, call it what you will, I have no idea what I will get up to, no idea who we’ll meet and no idea what we might see.
We will be living on a small game reserve called Wits Rural Facility, owned by the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, it is located about 30km from Hoedspruit, and 40km from the Orpen Gate into the Kruger National Park.
Back in the UK I worked as a software engineer for a vehicle diagnostics company near Oxford, where I spent most of my time writing desktop software in C# and WPF, and using databases. Before that, at Durham University, I studied Engineering and rowing, and amused myself making websites.
If you want to know more, put my skills and time to use, or just say hi please feel free to do so.
